You always hear that diet and exercise go together. Well they do! Having a healthy diet means taking in enough calories that your body needs to function but not excess that your body will store into fat. Exercising daily will help balance your diet by burning off extra calories.

Combine these together and you will be able to maintain a desirable body weight which will result in lower cholesterol levels. Exercising can be simple like going for a walk keeping in mind to be safe, start slow, and be aware of your body. Creating a daily routine to include exercise will increase your feeling of well being and result in a healthy heart.

Treatment for lowering high cholesterol can start at home. Making a commitment to a change in your lifestyle to include daily exercise will not only increase your overall well being but it will put you on the right path to bringing those numbers down

Maintaining a desirable weight can keep your cholesterol levels lower than large fluctuations in weight. If you are overweight, you can reduce your weight by increasing your physical activity as well as creating a healthy diet.

In order to maintain a desirable weight, only eat as many calories as your body needs. Your intake of calories must not exceed the number of calories your body burns. If you are not a strict calorie counter, daily exercise will help to ensure your body is burning the extra calories. Work with your doctor to set a realistic workout goal to help reduce your weight to a healthy weight or maintain the weight you are currently. Daily exercise can be as simple as walking for 30-45 minutes or as complex as taking aerobics classes at your local gym.

You may not even think about the calories you can burn just by making simple changes in your daily routine. Increase the amount of walking you do by parking further from your office building or at the grocery store. If you live close enough, ride a bicycle to work. Whenever possible, take the steps instead of the elevator. This will increase your heart rate and therefore burn more calories. Take a short walk with your coworkers during lunch to help fight that urge for an after lunch nap. Walk down the hall to deliver that message to the boss instead of using the phone.

Here are a few helpful hints to remember when starting an exercise program. Wear proper footwear during exercising to prevent injury. Drink a glass of water before and after exercising to prevent dehydration. Begin your workout with a small muscle stretch to warm up the muscles and end with a longer stretch session to prevent cramps. If exercising is new to you, start off slow and build up your speed, length, and intensity over time. Do not eat a large meal before exercising so your body can use energy on your activity and not digesting. The most important thing to remember is make exercise part of life style. Changing your attitude from something you have to do into something you want to do will not only excite you about your workout program but it will be easier to maintain your routine if you enjoy it.
