Supplements can be very beneficial to lowering high blood pressure. Always take supplements responsibly and speak to your healthcare provider before starting anything new to ensure that it is safe for you to take them individually.

It’s important to take supplements for several months before giving up on taking them.  Most supplements work quite effectively, but they do not necessarily work right away.  You may have to take them for several months before discovering whether or not they work.

There are several different supplements you can take which will help you to deal with your high blood pressure

Though researchers are currently unsure as to why, there is a direct link between calcium and high blood pressure.  Some studies show that calcium reduces high blood pressure.  It plays a strong role in muscle contractions, including muscle contractions within the heart.

Magnesium has over 300 chemical roles.  Your body needs magnesium in order to assimilate calcium into the body.  Some studies show that potassium may help to reduce high blood pressure.

Vitamin C helps to dilate blood vessels, which also helps to lower blood pressure.  Vitamin E is an antioxidant that is believed to reduce blood pressure, again, by dilating the blood vessels.

Coenzyme C10 is more recently believed to regulate blood pressure by improving the function of the blood vessel walls.  Recent studies have also shown that Omega-3 Fatty Acids may significantly lower blood pressure by dilating the blood vessels.

Folic acid may reduce elevated homocysteine levels, which can help to reduce high blood pressure.

Additionally, changing your diet will significantly help lower your blood pressure levels.  Consider following the DASH diet approach (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension).  This diet is promoted by the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute of the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

The DASH diet can help to reduce blood pressure with just two weeks of following it.  Yoga and other physical exercise can also help to reduce blood pressure significantly.

Those wishing to avoid raising their blood pressure should avoid taking licorice herb, ephedra, Asian Ginseng and Rosemary essential oil.

Avoid processed food and eat fresh or organic foods whenever possible.  Fruits, vegetables, garlic, onion, whole grains, soy, beans, seeds, nuts, olive oil and cold water fish, such as salmon and tuna, are excellent components to your diet if you are trying to lower your blood pressure.

Make sure you take 800 to 1,500 mg a day of calcium.  Take 1,000 mg a day of Vitamin C, 50 mg twice a day of Coenzyme C10 and Flaxseed meal (2 to 4 tablespoons a day).
