Foods that can Naturally Lower High Cholesterol

If you have high cholesterol, it is a real concern. Sometimes, simply making dietary changes can help you to lower cholesterol safe and effectively.

Sometimes, people within the medical community will prescribe another medication in order to lower high cholesterol.  This may create other problems or simply act as a temporary band aid.

If you can make simple dietary changes, you will find it much easier to safely and effectively lower your cholesterol levels

Make sure you are getting plenty of fiber no matter which diet you choose to follow.  Foods such as carrots, apples and the white layer inside of citrus fruits are very beneficial for lowering cholesterol.

Even though avocado is high in fat, it can be extremely beneficial in lower high cholesterol.  In one study, women who were given a diet of avocado and olive oil, had a reduction in cholesterol in just six weeks.

Beans are high in fiber and can definitely lower cholesterol.  Just eat a cup and a half of beans, or the equivalent of a bowl of soup.  Eating this amount daily can lower cholesterol by as much as 19 %.

Eat using a lot of garlic in your diet.  This can reduce high blood pressure and lower cholesterol.  Both garlic and onion are excellent additions to your diet.

Cayenne pepper and caraway seeds are also excellent for lowering cholesterol.

Stick to a diet that is low in fat and avoid saturated fat or processed foods.  Sometimes losing weight can help a lot too.  Cutting just 500 calories from your diet a day can help you lose 1 pound a week.

The American diet is full of fat and negative food.  Switching to vegetable oil won’t cure the problem.  Cinnamon has blood-thinning qualities.  Some experts recommend adding 1 teaspoon of cinnamon along with ¼ teaspoon of trikatu into a cup of water.  Steep for five minutes.  Once the tea has cooled, add one teaspoon of honey.  Drink this as a beverage twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening.  You can find trikatu in health food stores usually.

Follow a healthy diet and exercise regimen.  Diet and exercise are extremely important to your overall health, but will definitely help you lower your high cholesterol levels.
