Ayurvedic medicine is considered to be both a form of complementary and alternative medicine

Following the great elements of the universe, Ayurvedic medicine follows the belief of balance, while suppressing the natural urges which may lead to illness.

High blood pressure is often times referred to as hypertension.  Some think of it as the silent killer.  The more strive to learn and do in this life, the higher our stress levels seem to be.  In some ways technology affords us an easier life, but in other ways, it means we have more to learn and it can definitely be more stressful.

Some of the symptoms of high blood pressure include:

  • dizziness
  • heart palpitations
  • pain in the heart region
  • frequent urination
  • nervous tension
  • fatigue
  • difficulty with breathing

Stress is thought to be the main cause of high blood pressure.  Smoking and excessive drinking of alcohol, tea and caffeine is also thought to make it worse.  Often times, people will be asked to make a diet modification and to cut a lot of the fat out of their diet in order to reduce blood pressure.

Ayurvedic medicine is a type of herbal treatment remedy that is often times used to treat high blood pressure.  Herbal supplementation can be an extremely effective treatment.  If other over-the-counter and prescription medications don’t seem to be doing the trick, someone might turn to an herbal remedy.  Speak to your local health food store representative about the best course of treatment for you and he or she should be able to help you choose the best course of action.

Consider taking garlic tablets along with alfalfa supplements.  These are extremely effective for reducing high blood pressure.  Apples are also a healthy choice.  Lemon is a rich source of Vitamin P and can be very helpful with high blood pressure.  Rice is also great to include in the diet.  It has a low salt content, which you need when dealing with a reduction in blood pressure.

Bach flower remedies may also be helpful.  Try impatience, star of Bethlehem, wild rose and white chestnut.  Another effective remedy used since ancient times is taking 1 tablespoon of fresh amlajuice and honey every morning.
